Exceptional Chinese Export Black Lacquer Jewelry Chest with raised and gilt Chinoiserie decoration: having a hinged top upper compartment above two doors revealing an arrangement of small drawers and below a larger shallow drawer. 19th century.

14.75" x 8.5" x17.5"high.

Rare English Regency Hawksbill and Greenback Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy with ivory and pewter stringing, having cut corners and a bowed front panel with pressed tortoise in concentric ovals with fan corners and central inlaid silver oval with leafage border; the bowed lid surmounted by a ball finial and the whole raised on ball feet. Circa 1800-15. (Key). Height, 6”; Length, 8”; Depth, 4.75.”

Antique Spode Pottery Transfer Decorated Ceramic Wine Cooler,* oval with applied handles, ribbed body and rope turned rim, the whole with yellow and blue transfer decoration. English, circa 1810. (two tiny chips, numerous frits)

*Originally designed as a footbath, these large basins are today used as wine coolers.

Unusual metal mounted black glass dresser box with enameled decoration of flowers and a figure with bee. American, 1870-90.

Rare Antique Chinese Export red lacquer melon-form tea caddy with six loebed sides, three gilt dragon paw feet, gilt decoration of figures in gardens on body and hinged lid with carved “stem,” opening to a similarly shaped tin liner. Circa 1825. Height, 5.5”; Diameter, 6.25” Gourds and mellons had a particular significance in Chinese culture.

Fine Antique English Canterbury in Walnut, having four pierced partitions with “C” scroll carved decoration above a single drawer and raised on turned ball form feet with brass casters. Circa 1850-1870

Rather whimsical Georgian III Tea Caddy in the form of two conjoined single caddies, rectangular, with hinged lid opening to two lidded compartments and the whole raised on ball form feet. Only the right hand escutcheon has a working lock.

English, circa 1790.

Rare George II Writing Stand in mahogany, having a rectangular adjustable top with strut supports and a removable book rest, a fitted side drawer with two glass inkwells, two swing out candle-slides, and an adjustable height cannon-form standard supported by cabriole legs ending in pad feet and brass castors.

English, Circa 1740.

#573 English octagonal ivory tea caddy with fluted ivory panels with tortoise shell stringing and banding, having a pyramidal lid with silver finial opening to a lidded compartment. Circa 1790. Height, 5”; Length, 4.25”; Depth, 3.25.”

French, 19th century, Samson. The crossed “S” marks on the interior lid of this nineteenth-century snuff box indicates that this was, in fact, a product of the Samson factory. Edmé Samson founded the House of Samson in 1845 to decorate porcelain. However, it was Edmé’s son, Emile, who expanded the firm to include the reproduction of eighteenth-century English enamels...

English, most likely Bilston, eighteenth century. The elongated oval shape, all over floral decoration, and the unusual brown painted panels are not infrequent characteristics of Bilston’s “gingham finish” enamel boxes, hence the Bilston attribution.

Fine cracks to enamel, and small losses on both sides and back.

Antique English Bagatelle Box in Mahogany with original wooden insert and later ball and cues, now mounted on a metal stand.

Circa 1840

Bagatelle was a billiards-derived indoor table game, the object of which was to get a number of balls past wooden pins into holes that are guarded by wooden pegs; penalties were incurred if the pegs are knocked over.
