English, Bilston, 18th century, patch box. These memento boxes were popular at the end of the eighteenth century and frequently given as tokens of friendship and love. They were also purchased as souvenirs while traveling. They frequently started with the phrase “A trifle from...” as seen on this box. Rare English Regency Hawksbill and Greenback Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy with ivory and pewter stringing, having cut corners and a bowed front panel with pressed tortoise in concentric ovals with fan corners and central inlaid silver oval with leafage border; the bowed lid surmounted by a ball finial and the whole raised on ball feet. Very Rare Set of Paint Decorated Glass Tea Caddies and a Sugarbowl, rectangular with sloped shoulders, the sugarbowl surmounted by a flower form glass urn. Exceptional George III Serpentine Chest of Drawers or Commode in the French Manner having a moulded edge serpentine top with overhanging sides above two over three conforming drawers, rounded front corners and bold bracket feet. The drawer sides and bottoms are mahogany which is unusual since it was the most expensive wood during the 18th Century. Brass pulls may be original, escutcheons replaced...

Rare Chinese Export Roll Top Lap Desk, Asian Hardwoods with ebony and brass mounts having single lower drawer that when opened reveals a fitted interior, sloped writing surface and "pop-up" storage compartment with tambour doors. Circa 1830.

The Vũng Tàu shipwreck is a shipwreck that was found in the South China Sea off the islands of Côn Đảo about 100 miles from Vũng Tàu, Vietnam in 1692. The wreck was of alorcha boat—a Chinese vessel with Portuguese influences that has been dated to about 1690. It was found by a fisherman who had picked up numerous pieces of porcelain from the wreck while fishing. Sverker Hallstrom identified the wreck and its cargo in 1990...

Unusual Wood Tea Caddy or Tobacco Box in the form of a doghouse with brass nails and door surround and with a brass dog sitting outside. It opens by gently lowering the dog's hinged head which releases the peaked roof form lid which opens to a tin lined interior. The whole is mounted on a plinth base with brass beading. Circa 1870, probably Black Forest.
