Born in Czechoslovakia, Michael Stoffa immigrated to America at the age of seven and began his studies at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, then at the Pennsylvania Academy,  and the Arts Students League. As a well-known New Jersey teacher and a Cape Ann artist, Stoffa became known as a master artist of landscapes, seascapes, portraiture and still life. He held memberships in the Rockport Art Association, North Shore Arts Association, , Artists Fellowship, Burr Artists, International Society of Marine Painters, and the Salmagundi Club. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who, International Biography.
