Nina Hill (British, (British, Active 1927-1936)) Floral Still Life Oil on canvas, signed lower right corner.
Painting: 24” x 20” This breezy still life shows a vase of purple and lavender anemones next to an open window. The artist’s choppy brushwork animates the canvas with light and movement, suggesting the transience of flowers in full bloom. Nina Hill was a still life painter active in Surrey and Kent during the 1920’s and 30’s. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and with the Royal Institute of Painters of Water Colours. She is listed in the The Dictionary of British Artists, 1880-1940 (Johnson and Greutzner, 1980). |
