Cats Singing “Three Blind Mice” (English, 19th Century) Pencil drawing on paper with the impressed stamp “Rhoads & Sons, London” lower left, the frame dated 1871. This delightful drawing of a group of cats howling in unison around a music stand is a thoughtful rendering and cat enthusiasts will recognize the intense eyes and bared fangs of these choristers. At center, a small cat stands with his paw upraised to signal the others as they follow a score of mouse notes. One singer tilts his head back as if to hit a high note while another crouches low to get a better view of the stand. Together, the cats earnestly perform their concert, inspired, perhaps, by the full moon. Sight Size: 13.5" x 17.5" |
