Rene Quéré (French, b. 1932) Ouessant, Brittany Oil on canvas, signed.
Sight size: 10.5” x 7.5” **Please note: This item is not currently on view in our gallery. If you would like to see it, please call at least 48 hours in advance. Quéré was a painter of genre, interiors, figures, landscapes and marines as well as a painter of gouaches, a muralist, illustrator and ceramacist. From 1952-1955 he was a student at l’École des Arts Appliqués de Quimper. After his studies, he worked in the faience factory until 1970. From 1957 to 1974 he taught in the schools of the Mouvement de L’Enfance de l’Art. He travelled to Paris, Belgium, Holland, Morocco and Venice. Quéré began to exhibit ceramics (faience) and some small gouaches at the gallery Saluden in Quimper. He participated in numerous collective art exhibitions in Quimper, Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Nantes. He also exhibited in many “one-man” shows , mostly in Brittany villages, but also in Paris and Brussels. Much of his work suggests an atmosphere or feeling and approaches formal abstraction. He preferred to paint his subjects in the rosy glow of dawn or the blues of evening.
