Fred Fellows (American, b. 1934) Indian with Wolf Headress Bronze sculpture, signed. Height: 5.75” Influenced by his roots in the American West, Fellows has maintained a respect for its traditions in his art. His paintings and sculptures have been featured in many magazines throughout the country including Newsweek, Southwest Art and Architectural Digest. His work has won many awards among which are the Grumbacher Fine Arts Award and the Printing Institute of America Award. Fellows has won several College Art Association of America awards including Gold Medal for Most Popular Work (1976), Silver Medal for Sculpture (1991-1995) and Best of Show in 1991. His work was included in the first American art exhibit in Mainland China in 1980. His work is also in the collections of many U.S. museums and corporations. One of his Gold Medal sculptures won the purchase prize to go into the permanent collection at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming. Fellows is listed in Encyclopedia of Artists of the American West by Samuels, Cowboy Artists of America by Duty and Hedgpeth and Fielding’s Dictionary of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers. |
