Rare antique tabletop dumbwaiter in mahogany, having three circular moulded edge graduated tiers supported by ring turned pillars and circular stepped base. English or American, late 18th/early 19th century.

This form is usually a free standing piece of dining room furniture that was placed next to the host's chair and carried desserts, silver, cheeses, drinks and glasses. The servants could then be excused and you could discuss things in private - hence the name "Dumbwaiter" This rare tabletop form was the precurser of the American "Lazy Susan"

Height: 23”
Diameter of lower tier: 19”
