Born in Ownings Mills, MD, Sheppard studied at the Maryland institute of Art and on a Guggenheim Traveling Fellowship in Florence, Italy. He works in a variety of mediums including watercolors, oils, and bronze and has won numerous awards for his work. Institutions including the Allied Artists of America, Butler Institute of American Art, National Sculpture Society, and others have honored his contributions to American art.
Sheppard’s work is held in many private and public collections worldwide. Domestically, his work can be seen at the Butler Institute of American Art, Columbus Museum of Fine Art, Baltimore Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute Museum of Art and the Malcolm Forbes Collection.
