Prosper Lecourtier (French, 1855-1924) Bear Bronze sculpture, signed.
Height: 10” Lecourtier was born at Grimilly in 1855 and studied under Fremiet and Coutan. He exhibited at the Paris Salons and won medals in 1879, 1880, 1900 and 1902. He specialized in animal bronzes and is represented in the Provins Museum and the Tourcoing Museum. He died in Paris in 1924. Lecourtier is listed in The Dictionary of Western Sculptors in Bronze by MacKay and Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs, et Graveurs by Bénézit. |
