Thomas Henry Gregg, (British, fl. 1824-1872)

Oil-on-canvas, signed, left corner and retaining a partial label on the reverse reading, in part: "by T.H. Gregg, 1860".

Gregg choose people as the primary focus in his art, painting both portraits and figurative subjects. During his lifetime, his works were exhibited at the Royal Academy; Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street; and British Institution. Gregg is listed in the Dictionary of British Art, Vol. IV Victorian Painters by Wood.
