Julia Titsworth (American, 1878-1941)

Oil on canvas-board, signed.

Born in Westfield, MA, Titsworth studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and under R. Collins in Paris. Upon completion of her training, she returned to her east coast roots living in NYC through the 1920s. However, by 1932, she had abandoned her roots in favor of a California life.

She was a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors and the American Federation of Arts. Her work was exhibited at the Oakland Art Gallery.

Titsworth is listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Falk, Dictionary of Women Artists by Petteys and Artists in California 1786-1940 by Hughes.
