Raymond Wintz was a French realist painter and engraver whose most famous paintings were romanticized Breton village scenes and coastal landscapes. Although his style is broadly termed “realism” it also leans heavily towards impressionism. He is best known for his painting “The Blue Door”, which is still available as a poster and print. Wintz attended the School of Decorative Arts and the National College of Fine Arts in Paris, and studied with Jules Adler at the Écoles Français. He began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1910.
