Robert Ward Van Boskerck (American, 1855-1932)

Born in Hoboken, NJ, Van Boskerck graduated from the Columbia University’s School of Mines in 1877, and received his art education from Robert Swain Gifford and Alexander Wyant. He was a prolific landscape artist, preferring quiet scenes from his travels at home and abroad. The body of his work is dominated by placid views of rivers, ponds and marshlands. Additionally, he spent time painting in the Adirondacks.

Van Boskerck was elected to the Society of American Artists in 1887and the National Academy of Design (NYC) in 1897. He exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC) and other major museums.
