Walton Blodgett worked mostly in watercolors, primarily painting scenes in rural Connecticut and Vermont. He studied in New York City at the Grand Central Art School and privately with George Luks and George Pearse Ennis He was a member of the American Water Color Society and exhibited extensively.

In the late 1930’s Blodgett moved to Stowe, Vermont where he opened his own studio/gallery in 1941. There he painted the surrounding villages, farms, mountains and private homes, scenes which were popular with the fledgling ski and tourist community.
