William Lee (British 1810-1865) Country Lovers Watercolor on paper, signed lower right and dated “1847”
Sight Size: 17” x 22.5” William Lee was a painter of rustic genre, often English or French figures in coastal scenes, usually in watercolor. He was a member and secretary of the Langham Sketching Club for many years. He was elected as an associate of the New Society of Painters in Watercolors in 1845, where he exhibited his works on occasion. Lee also exhibited his work at the Royal Academy and Society of British Artists. Examples of his work are in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Gallery of Ireland.
