Grace Woodbridge Geer (American, 1854-1938) Portrait of a Woman Oil on canvas, signed with initials, upper left.
Painting: 10” x 8” Geer, a native of Boston, was a portrait and miniature artist. She attended the Massachusetts Normal Art School, established to train teachers of fine and decorative arts. She studied with F.H. Tompkins, Triscott, Tarbell and Vonnoh. Geer exhibited with several galleries and clubs in the Northeast, including the Pennsylvania Society of Miniature Painters, the Philadelphia and Boston Art Club, the National Academy of Design (NYC) and the Worcester (MA) Art Museum. Some of her works are in the collections of the International Institute for Girls (Madrid), the New England Historical Genealogical Society (Boston) and the Historical Society of Greenfield, Massachusetts.
