Laszlo Neogrady (Hungarian,1896-1962) Winter Landscape in the Mountains Oil on canvas, signed lower left.
Painting Size: 24” x 36” Laszlo Neogrady was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1896, the son of artist Antal Neogrady. He studied painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts under the artist Ede Ballo. Biographical information on Neogrady sometimes confuses him with his father who was a professor of watercolor in Budapest. A prolific artist, Laszlo Neogrady exhibited his work at the Hungarian Art Gallery beginning in 1922. He specialized in painting naturalistic landscapes, many of which depicted forest scenes in winter. The artist’s use of a heavy impasto creates an almost three dimensional effect in these works as well as a dramatic atmosphere of brilliant sunlight. The artist died on August 17, 1962.
