G. Watson James, Jr. (American, b. 1887) Birches - Keene, N.H Oil on canvas, signed lower left, retaining a partial exhibition label on the reverse from the First Annual Exhibition of Virginia Artists, 1932, by the Richmond Academy.
Painting Size: 22” x 24” James was a painter, teacher and writer, born in Richmond, VA. He lived in Richmond and also maintained a home in Salisbury, Vermont. He was a member of the Society of Washington Artists, the southern VermontArtists, the Academy of Fine Arts and Science (Richmond) and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (Richmond).
