Michael B. Karas (American, 1954- ) Rockport Harbor Oil on canvas, signed.
Painting Size: 10” x 12” Karas was born in Boston, graduated from the New England School of Art and Design and studied at the Gloucester Academy of Fine Arts. He lived and painted on Cape Ann (MA) from 1978-1984 and was a member of the Rockport Art Association. He then moved to Penobscot Bay, ME where he resided and painted dramatic coastal scenes. In 2004 he moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina where he focuses on painting the surrounding marshlands and denizens. His works have been exhibited at the Cape Museum of Fine Arts (Dennis, MA), the Connecticut River Museum (Essex, CT), Maine Maritime Museum (Bath, ME) and the Newport Art Museum (Newport, RI) and others.
