Born in Yorkshire in 1950, Jake Attree studied at the York School of Art in1966, Liverpool College of Art in 1968 and the Royal Academy School in 1974. Noted for his use of thick paint layers, he has won The Creswick Landscape Prize, The Landseer Figure Prize, The David Murray Scholarship and the Bronze Turner Medal from The Royal Academy of Arts from 1974-1977.
