Exceptional pair of antique French Gilt Bronze Fireplace Chenet in the form of Dionysian children seated on a plinth and eating grapes, and with foliate and cyma curved decoration. 18th/19th Century. Each Approx.: 12.5" x 12.5" x 5.5 deep

Exceptional Arts & Crafts painted leather necessaire with tooled, painted and gilt decoration of birds and blossoms, opening to an interior complete with almost all of its original fittings including bottles and trays with fire gilt lids, brushes, combs, buttonhook, etc. French, c. 1870-1880.

Rare George II Writing Stand in mahogany, having a rectangular adjustable top with strut supports and a removable book rest, a fitted side drawer with two glass inkwells, two swing out candle-slides, and an adjustable height cannon-form standard supported by cabriole legs ending in pad feet and brass castors.

Cartouche-shaped black marble plaque inset with oval micromosaic panels depicting Roman archaeological scenes (clockwise from upper left): the Coliseum, the Temple of Hercules, the Roman Forum and the Pantheon. Those four panels surround the Doves of Pliny, an image often used in micromosaics, which comes from a Roman floor mosaic at Hadrian’s villa in Tivoli and is believed to be a copy of a lost ancient Greek mosaic at Pergamon described by Pliny the elder...

Rare English Regency Tea Chest in rosewood, of sarcophagus form with a paneled lid opening to a fitted interior retaining a pair of Anglo-Irish cut glass tea caddies and sugar bowl and original felt lining under the lid, circa 1830.

Cut crystal containers were very expensive at this time, almost as expensive as silver. It is very unusual for tea chests to retain their original crystal fittings.

Antique English Bagatelle Box in Mahogany with original wooden insert and later ball and cues, now mounted on a metal stand.

Circa 1840

Bagatelle was a billiards-derived indoor table game, the object of which was to get a number of balls past wooden pins into holes that are guarded by wooden pegs; penalties were incurred if the pegs are knocked over.

Antique Pear Form Tea Caddy in fruitwood, turned in the form of a pear with iron escutcheon and stem.  Often made in suite with an apple form tea caddy for your green and black teas. You want to see a curved lockplate as many fruit form string holders are being passed off as tea caddies.  Probably German, Late 18th Century. 6.5” tall with stem

Fine George II Silver Tea Caddy, by Samuel Taylor, having a reverse pear-form body embossed with floral garlands centering a blank cartouche on each side, removable lid with shell-form finial. Marked on underside of base.

Samuel was the son of Thomas Taylor and started his apprenticeship with John Newton in 1737. His first marks was entered in 1744...

Rare 18th century fruit wood tea caddy in the form of a large apple, having a circular hinged lid with carved “stem” opening to a tin-lined interior; lock and escutcheon are original, hinge is replaced (repair to lid). Probably Continental, circa 1760-80.
